Artist

Nicolò Sari

Nicolò Antonio Sari, born in Venice in 1987, graduated with top marks in organ and organ composition at the “B. Marcello” conservatoire in Venice, studying under Elsa Bolzonello Zoya and Roberto Padoin.

He got several bestowals in international organ competitions: the second prize (first prize not handed) at the J. P. Sweelinck competition in Amsterdam, the first prize at the international competitions in St. Julien du Sault (France), Pistoia, Fano Adriano, Muzzana del Turgnano and Varzi (Italy). Other bestowals in Graz and Borca di Cadore.
He plays in concerts in Italy and abroad in important festivals.

He performed as a solist with the Orchestra of the La Fenice Theatre in Venice, the Ravenna chamber orchestra and the Orchestra of Padova and Veneto.

In 2012 he graduated with a Master’s degree in organ at the conservatoire A Pedrollo in Vicenza with Roberto Antonello (summa cum laude). In 2014 the Master’s degree in harpsichord with Patrizia Marisaldi (summa cum laude).

He is the Artistic director of the international organ festival “Gaetano Callido” in Venice.

DIEGO CAL was born in Porcìa in 1963 (PN) and after graduating brilliantly from the “B. Marcello" conservatoire in Venice in 1982, collaborated with prestigious orchestras and ensembles in Italy and all over the world: I Pomeriggi Musicali, Teatro la Fenice, Pforzheim Orchestra, Solamente Naturali Baroque Orchestra of Bratislava, Klang Forum Wien, Accademia Montis Regalis, Accademia Bizantina, Orchestra of Padua and Veneto—in which he held the role of first solo trumpet for twenty years making dozens of recordings—Modo Antiquo of Florence, Venice Baroque Orchestra, Ex Novo ensemble of Venice, Orchestra il Pomo d'oro, Merano Baroque orchestra, Ensemble Novecento e Oltre di Milano, I Virtuosi Italiani Accademia Bizantina, Filarmonia Veneta, Sinfonica del Friuli V. Giulia.

He played in the most prestigious theaters in the world: Scala in Milan, Fenice in Venice, Opera in Rome, Massimo in Palermo, Regio and Rai in Turin, Rai in Rome, Musikverein in Wien, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Opera Theatre in Frankfurt and Berlin, Radio in München, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Concertgebow in Amsterdam, Radio in Ljubljana, The Jerusalem theatre, in all instances as first trumpet soloist. With the natural trumpet he participated in the most important international early music festivals: Köln, Strasbourg, Salzburg, Bratislava, Wien, Brezice, Montevideo, Katovice, Oviedo, Santiago de Compostela, Lyon, Paris, Marsille, Beaune, Krakow, Milan, Rome, Venice and Spoleto often live on RAI, WDR Germany, Radio France. He recorded for Archiv, D. Grammophone, Teldec, Erato, Stradivarius, Bis, and other labels.

He collaborated with V. Ashkenazy, M. Rostropovich, B. Petrushansky, A. Lonquich, E. Kirkby, O. Dantone, A. Marcon, M. Brunello, P. Maag, K. Richter, R. Goebel, M. Argerich , M. Tipo, A. Ephrikian, S. Accardo, J. DiDonato, M. Cencic.

As a soloist, he recorded the 2nd Brandenburg Concerto by J.S. Bach, 2 CDs of Renaissance and Baroque music for trumpet and organ and the CD "Barocco". In 2007 he received the international prize "Purlilium" City of Porcìa for his intense artistic activity.

He founded the Harmonie Brass Ensemble with which he recorded the so-called "Brass & Swing" and "Barocco" in brass decimino. He taught in the Conservatories of Trieste, Vicenza, Castelfranco, Udine. He currently holds the chair of modern, Renaissance and Baroque trumpet at the Padua Conservatory. From 2014 to 2020 he was Artistic Director of the Società Musicale Orchestra and Choir San Marco FVG. Since 2020 he has been the Artistic Director of the La Via delle Arti Association.
